Microsuction earwax removal is undertaken using a microscope and a medical suction device. A very thin wand type fitting is fitted to the end of the suction tube which allows the professional to gently remove the earwax from your canal. A video otoscope will show you the condition of the ear before and after the treatment.

Usually microsuction does not need pre-treatment with drops, however, two days of olive oil is the best preparation.

The procedure in only for patients over the age of 16.

Why microsuction?

Microsuction is the safest and most comfortable method of ear wax removal. We can clearly see the ear canal and more importantly can see exactly what we are doing which makes it an exceptionally safe procedure. It is an especially comfortable process and it is usually undertaken in a few minutes making it a same day service.

Is it Safe?

Microsuction is safer than irrigation as it can be done in a patient with a history of perforation and does not contribute to ear infections which can occur in syringing.
